Muscle Re-education

Muscle Re-education

A muscle is controlled by its opposing muscle group. If one group is used more than its opposing group an imbalance occurs resulting in the need to re-educate the weaker, overused muscle group, i.e. repetitive movements for an extended amount of time as a result of an occupation, hobbies, or sport may cause a numbness or tingling in the arms. This may be accompanied by burning or pain in the thumb or wrist, especially at night.

Beneficial Results:

  • Incontinence
  • Post operative muscle rehabilitation
  • Stroke recovery for ambulation
  • Sub-clinical diagnosis of neuro-muscular syndromes
  • Physical Therapy facilitation
  • Detection of non-participating muscle groups
  • 100% muscle recruitment over treatment period
  • Increase in tone and strength of difficult muscle group training (i.e. abdominal, triceps, etc.)
  • Decreased athletic rehabilitation time
  • Frozen shoulder syndromes
  • Off-site Physical Therapy
  • Rehabilitation for knee and hip replacement surgeries
  • Better patient compliance to physical therapy recommendations
